are one of the premier jazz groups around today. Formed in 1998, its members were originally co-opted from King Salsa; Robin’s all singing, all dancing 13-piece Salsa Band, to develop the jazz aspect of Latin (Afro Cuban) music. The band’s double award winning CD ‘Latin Underground’ was released to critical acclaim - an album of 100% original Latin/jazz compositions.
A new CD, ‘Mojito’, has been released on the Quinto label. Again it is primarily an album of originals, written by members of the band, with Nick Walker the main contributor. The Album features guest appearances from Latin Percussion legends Snowboy and Bosco De Oliveira, trombonist Tim Smart and Hammond maestro Paul ‘Biggy’ Birchall. Most recently the Sextet completed a successful 12-date UK Tour with financial assistance from Jazz Services, with one highlight including a last minute appearance at Ronnie Scott’s.
